2000 – 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Archives

The Yugoslav Archives marked its 50th anniversary and a series of events were held on that occasion:

 January 20

The celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Yugoslav Archives was attended by numerous representatives of the international archival community, including ICA secretary general Joan Van Albada and ICA/EUR president Erik Norberg, who held lectures for Yugoslav archives workers. Mr Joan Van Albada spoke about the code of archivists and professionalism in the archival science and Mr Norberg addressed the topic of Archives, history and democracy.

 

 January 21

Agreements were signed on extending the validity of a protocol on cooperation between the State Archive Service of the Russian Federation and the Yugoslav Archives for the period between 2000 and 2004 and between the National Archives of Romania and the Yugoslav Archives for the period between 2000 and 2002.

At the Central Club of the Yugoslav Army a celebration was held, an exhibition of original documents entitled "Half a Century of the Yugoslav Archives" was opened and the latest publications of the Archives were presented: the monograph "Archives of Yugoslavia between 1950 and 2000" and the Guide through the Funds of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.

Talks were held at the Serbian Archives about the position of archives in our country and especially about the position of archives in Kosovo.

 

 January 22

A tour of Novi Sad and the Vojvodina Archives. Foreign guests received information about the volume, type and state of the archival holdings of the Vojvodina Archives.


The 50th anniversary of the Yugoslav Archives prompted Jugomarka to issue the stamp with the nominal value of 10 dinars and the first day cover (FDC).
